FAQ and Policies

FAQ

  • Wheelchair Accessibility: This studio is not fully wheelchair accessible. There is a small step into the doorway, but no other obstructions.

  • Age Restrictions: I do not tattoo anyone under the age of 18.

  • Comfort During Your Session: Feel free to listen to music, watch a movie, or do whatever helps you relax and feel comfortable. Let me know if you need a break—I’ll often check in with you, but please vocalize how you're doing at any time.

  • Sensory and Mobility Concerns: If you have sensory or mobility concerns, I’ll do my best to accommodate. I have earplugs available, and the bed is memory foam. If the bed height is an issue, it can be adjusted, and there is also a chair available.

  • Respect for All: All clients deserve equal treatment, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ability, or health. Please also respect the artist’s boundaries.

  • Privacy: If you need more privacy, please let me know. The studio at Twelve Mile is an open space, but we have a screen available for use.

  • Consent: You have the right to revoke consent at any point. Please speak up if you feel any discomfort before or during the procedure.

Policies

To help us all celebrate our individuality in a safe and welcoming space, here are some ground rules to make sure everyone feels comfortable:

Safety: If you feel unsafe or witness any problematic behavior, please let the host know.

Oppressive Behavior

Racism, sexism, classism, homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, ableism, fatphobia, ageism, or any form of discrimination based on ethnicity, immigration status, religious, cultural, or spiritual beliefs, or any other form of oppression will not be tolerated. Such behavior will be challenged.

  • Please avoid using slurs that aren’t yours to use. For example, if you are white, don’t use racial slurs, even if you’re being critical of them.

  • Respect others' space—if someone is neurodivergent or just doesn’t want to talk, give them the freedom to interact or move at their own pace.

Sexual Harassment

There is a zero tolerance policy for sexual harassment, including unwanted touching (such as hugs), wolf-whistling, catcalling, inappropriate sexual comments, or sexually based jokes. Always ensure you have consent before engaging in any physical contact.

Content Warnings

If you are about to discuss something that might upset others (e.g., mental illness, domestic abuse, etc.), please give a heads-up. We want to create a space where people feel able to discuss difficult topics, but we also understand not everyone can handle everything at all times. Before starting, ask if it’s okay to talk about certain topics, especially in less formal settings or breaks.

Space to Speak

People from marginalized or minority groups may find it harder to participate in discussions. Please avoid talking over others and be mindful of whether it’s appropriate for you to speak on certain topics. Make space for quieter or less confident people to share their voices.

Things to Do Before Your Appointment

  • Moisturize: Keep the area to be tattooed well moisturized leading up to your appointment and exfoliate the area beforehand.

  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids in the days leading up to your tattoo appointment—hydration is key.

  • Clothing: Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area being tattooed. The studio is an open space, so please keep this in mind when dressing. Here are some suggestions based on the tattoo location:

    • Sternum: Button-up shirt and loose bra/nipple covers.

    • Upper leg: Short shorts under pants or with a dress.

    • Back: Button-up shirt worn backwards.

    • Collar: Tank top or tube top.

    • Legs: Avoid tight leggings; wear pants that can be easily lifted or shorts.

    • Ribs: Loose bra and a shirt you can lift one arm out of.

  • No Alcohol: Do not consume alcohol the day of or the night before your appointment, as it can thin your blood.

  • Skin Conditions: If you have any reactions or skin conditions in the area to be tattooed, you may be asked to reschedule to avoid further irritation.

  • Eat: It’s always a good idea to eat a good meal a few hours before your session, and bring a snack if your appointment is long.

  • Questions: Ask all questions before your appointment. I may not be able to respond to last-minute queries.

  • Guests: Please do not bring a guest with you unless you’ve notified me in advance that you require support.

  • Comfort Items: Bring headphones or a stress ball to help make your appointment more comfortable. Sunglasses can also be useful if you're lying on your back under bright lights.
